After an extensive search and a thorough review of candidates, the Board of Directors for Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Bratvold as the next Director of Education for the Authority.  Robert will begin his new role on September 15, 2023.

Board Chair, Mr. Edward Benonie Sr., said, “The Board is very pleased to appoint Robert as Director of Education.  He has demonstrated passion for providing the very best educational experiences for all students and we are confident that his collaborative and community-based leadership approach will support our staff in their efforts to provide excellence for all of our students and families.”

Ed. in 1993, a Masters of Education in 2006 and has also completed various certifications in leadership and organizational management.  He spent many years in Creighton as a teacher, school administrator and Director and most recently served as Director of Education for Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division in Prince Albert.  During his career he has focused on the importance of family, community and partnerships in student success and has been involved in educational leadership at the local, provincial and federal level.

“I am grateful for the trust that the Board has placed in me as they have given me the opportunity to serve the students and families in our communities,” says Mr. Bratvold, “I look forward to working with our great leadership team, the staff in each of our schools and the members in each community to earn their respect and ensure each student is successful.  I was captivated by the Vision and Mission of the ADEA and I am excited to have the opportunity to provide leadership and support to reach our goals.”

The Board thanks Dr. Donald Lloyd who has provided clear guidance and support as Acting Director for the last several months and who will return to his role as CFO.  The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority was formally established only 4 years ago and has accomplished a great deal in that short time.  There is a strong foundation for the next steps in success and the Board looks forward to a bright future.  The Board congratulates Mr. Bratvold on his appointment and thanks all families and staff members for their commitment, skill and dedication to student success.
